Join us this summer for First Stage Theater Academy, the nation’s largest high-impact theater training program for young people!

Professional theater artists from across the nation will share their expertise, skills, and passion for their art with over 2,000 young people this summer. Students will develop skills in musical theater, scene study, Shakespeare, improvisation, and much more, while simultaneously building life skills, such as confidence, focus, and teamwork. Young people are encouraged to take risks and conquer their fears, and we are proud to be building the next generation of artists and leaders. 

We look forward to welcoming new and returning students for another summer filled with learning, laughter, and fun!

COST

  • Weekly sessions start at $160 per week. Tuition includes all class materials and one Academy T-shirt per student. Explore our course catalog for specific classes and prices.
  • Sibling Discounts: If you are enrolling two or more children in Summer Theater Academy, you may receive $20 off each class. Use Promo Code: 38282 when registering online to receive your discount.
  • Financial assistance is available to any student; awards are need-based. Learn more

  • Register online 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Please have your schedule, child’s emergency contact information, and any pertinent medical information available.

Rotate through a core curriculum that explores the fundamentals of actor training: Acting Theory, Improvisation, Musical Theater, Shakespeare, and Voice & Movement.

Three-week Sessions

Spend two weeks rotating through the core curriculum developing the tools essential to the craft of acting; the third week is spent exploring other areas such as tech and design, playwriting, and in-depth scene study.

Returning students will strengthen and hone their fundamental acting skills while studying advanced level curriculum in scene study, voice, movement improvisation, musical theater, and Shakespeare.

Work with a theater professional for four weeks to broaden performance skills, deepen knowledge of theater, and produce a play. Audition is required.

Two Week Session Grade 5 7/29-8/9

Two Week Session - Serving new and returning students entering grade 5 in fall of 2019 Classes will be divided based on grades in fall of 2019 Times: 8:45 am – 4:15 pm Students will rotate through a Core Curriculum that explores the fundamental elements of actor training: Acting Theory, Improvisation, Musical Theater, Shakespeare and Voice & Movement. GRADES 5–12 CURRICULUM BEGINNING OF DAY: Each Academy day begins with a gathering to prepare, share goals, and encourage each other to do our best. ACTING THEORY: Explore character, relationships, action and text while developing overall acting skills and confidence. IMPROVISATION: Develop expressiveness, spontaneity, and train your brain to think quickly and with reason through improvisational character and scene work. MUSICAL THEATER: Increase your versatility and work on new vocal and dance techniques while exploring the art of telling a story through words, music, and movement. SHAKESPEARE: Examine dynamic language, characters, and plots in scenes and monologues from one of the most influential playwrights in history. VOICE & MOVEMENT: Build strength, flexibility, awareness, and expression through a class devoted to the fundamentals of two of the actor’s most important tools. END OF DAY: Each Academy day concludes with a gathering to reflect and acknowledge the hard work of fellow students.
